Dear Ann
The families are groups of Qi Organs which all collaborate in a wider overall function. You can read three articles I wrote which describe the three families. Each family consists of four Qi-functions which are two Yin-Yang pairs in two different elements or equally are one Yin-Yin pair and one Yang-Yang pair which are both one of the Six…Read more

Personally, I would have preferred to have a single focus rather than the multi-focus you gave us. I find that, if there are many ideas, that I leave my body to take them all in.

Hi Silke, There doesn’t need to be a contradiction between those two views of the Large Intestine. I find it useful to look at the direction of energy rather than its function.

The direction of Large Intestine Qi is OUTWARD. So it can help push things out that are toxic but it can also push back against outside pressure so that you stand your…Read more

Lovely question Colin. There is not a right-wrong answer – it all depends on what you are doing with the breath.

If you are focusing on PROJECTION of QI (which emphasises the Outer World) then IN-BREATH is used to build up the energy in the body and OUT-BREATH is used to project it outwards. This is what your pictures show. In that case it makes…Read more

Hi Tanja, A lot of nerve pain is caused by muscle tension pressing on nerve roots or distorting the skeleton to squeeze a nerve. In those cases, the techniques that we are showing can help adjust the skeleto-muscular system to take the pressure off the nerves. This is not a universal answer and I have had mixed success working with the carpal…Read more
