This is a workshop in the detailed techniques of Movement Shiatsu. One of the basic principles of East-Asian medicine is that disease is often caused by a part of the person that is not active, a shadow player in the body-mind.
In this course will go into detail about how to work with three aspects of this principle:
- Activating Integrity Muscles. These muscles hold the joint together and if they are not active then other muscles have to restrict movement to secure the joint, causing common pain, stiffness and stress. We will show techniques for re-activating these in bodywork and in exercises to be taught to the client.
- Joining the Dance: Related to this are parts of the body that are passive within a person’s movements. We sill show detailed bodywork techniques for helping these habitually passive parts to join the dance and contribute their energy to the whole.
- Bringing the Shadow into the Light. This principle can also be applied to working with behaviour and personality. We will show how to identify parts of the personality which stay passively in the background and how to help a client to experiment with their behaviour to bring these parts into action. These explorations are profound but accessible and help people to feel in control of their lives and relationships rather than being a victim of their traumas.
