This workshop is a rare opportunity to work with Bill & Teresa in the UK. It is a space for self-exploration and will also include unique methods for helping other people access the intelligence and wisdom of their bodies. You don’t need particular skills or background. People from all walks of life can attend this workshop. However, experience in self-development and a willingness to explore are helpful.
The Inner Community is a term coined by Bill to describe the fact that different parts of the body have their own intelligence and can act independently to maintain inner harmony. It is an extension of the idea of sub-personalities, as explored by the Internal Family Systems model, to include intelligent parts of us that are not easily accessed through introspection. These aspects of the self are more related to the body than the conscious mind. However, the processes and practices of Movement Shiatsu and Inner Qigong can help us be aware of what they want to communicate.
This gives us access to a vast realm of inner resources, which empower us to make decisions that take care of our whole being. Without this awareness, we often harm ourselves. The workshop should help you become more autonomous and liberate yourself from dependence on outside authority to know what to do.
For therapists working with the body or with Qi, this approach transforms the relationship with the client. It turns therapy into a voyage of empowerment and discovery, where the client is the leader and the therapist is assisting their self-exploration.
We will work with the following:
The Six Forms of Touch – which show how the WAY in which you touch and relate to a person affects the Qi-functions of East Asian medicine.
Developmental Movement – which shows how the meridians of Chinese medicine are actually pathways along which babies learned to use their body and which can now be used to re-discover how to act as an integrated being.
Wolfson Voicework – which helps us to extend the range and quality of our voice to find the voices of parts of ourselves that we have pushed out of sight.
Experiential Anatomy – which uses awareness of subtle sensations and drama processes to access the energy of different organs and tissues.
