A three day workshop of Somatic Exploration and Movement Shiatsu

This workshop is a space for self-exploration and will also include unique methods for helping other people access the intelligence and wisdom of their bodies. You don’t need particular skills or background. People from all walks of life can attend this workshop. However, experience in self-development and a willingness to explore are helpful. It is not a therapy group and you will be expected to take responsibility for their own processes, in the knowledge that some of them might challenge old protective patterns (although we are careful to do this in a way that respects your right to choose). If you are concerned about your mental health, please talk to us in person before you commit to the course.
The Inner Community is a term coined by Bill in the 1980’s to describe the fact that different parts of us have their own intelligence and can act independently to maintain inner harmony. It is an extension of the idea of sub-personalities but includes intelligent parts of us that are not easily accessed through introspection. These aspects of the self are more related to the body than the conscious mind and their language is understood through movement and sound rather than through images and words.
We will explore:
| – Different qualities of touch to bring different tissues to awareness |
| – Archetypal movements and their relationship to meridian energy |
| – Drama processes to help body parts to speak in the first person |
| – Voicework and breathwork to move out of habitual patterns |
If you are a body based therapist, this workshop will show you techniques that transform the therapy into an interactive voyage of discovery, where the client is the leader and the therapist is assisting their self-exploration. This approach is particularly relevant and effective for people with chronic conditions that resist treatment.
The course will be held in Frome, where we live, and we have eight places in our house for people to stay and make meals in a dedicated kitchen (usually the group staying in the house arrange to share cooking of the evening meals). We have a selection of B&B places nearby or suggestions for camping.
The cost of the course will be £295 and we are happy to arrange for this to be paid in instalments. To book on the course, fill out the application form and if we can give you a place, we will tell you how to pay the deposit and the timetable for completing payment. These Frome courses book up really fast because there are limited number of places, so we suggest booking early. To encourage that, we will give a £25 discount to anyone booking before end of December 2025.
